Answers about our automation solutions, special-purpose machinery, assembly and test systems, and how we work with customers in India and overseas. Click a question to expand the answer.

What does Universal Automation specialise in?

We design and build industrial automation solutions - special-purpose machines (SPMs), assembly lines, leak and functional test equipment, jigs and fixtures, and related machinery for automotive and non-automotive manufacturing. Our work spans concept through build, installation support, and ongoing technical partnership.

Which industries and regions do you serve?

We support customers across sectors represented on our industries and projects pages - including automotive components and broader manufacturing. We execute work across India and have experience with global installations; see our India and Global location pages for coverage and reference points.

Do you build custom SPMs, or only standard products?

Our strength is application-specific machinery tailored to your process, cycle time, and quality targets. Product pages illustrate typical machine types - such as hot nut insertion, leak testing, torque or endurance tests - but each build is engineered for your part numbers, plant constraints, and integration needs.

What kinds of assembly lines do you deliver?

We deliver integrated assembly solutions such as manifold lines, gluing and lens pressing cells, roof bar assembly stations, and other line-based systems where multiple stations, part presentation, and controls must work together. Scope can include mechanical build, controls, safety, and data interfaces aligned with your production model.

Can you supply leak, flow, and pressure-drop test machines?

Yes. Our standalone machinery portfolio includes pressure drop, flow, and leak test systems, HV and function testers, and combined stations (for example spacer press with air leak test). Applications and tolerances are defined with you so test criteria, fixturing, and reporting match your quality system.

Do you offer jigs, fixtures, and precision tooling?

We provide dedicated jigs and fixtures - examples include roof bar bending fixtures, circuit breaker assembly fixtures, and dedicated leak or pressure-drop test fixtures. These are built to repeatability and durability expectations of production, often alongside larger automation programmes.

How does a typical project engagement work?

Engagements usually move from requirement clarification and concept layout to detailed design, manufacture, internal try-out, factory acceptance, dispatch, installation, and commissioning at your site. Milestones and documentation are aligned with your purchase and validation process; contact us early to align timelines and technical interfaces.

Do you refurbish or retrofit existing machines?

Refurbishment is not our primary volume stream, but we take it on when technically or commercially critical - including upgrading machines we originally supplied, reworking domestically built equipment that did not meet requirements, or assisting with selective changes on imported lines where OEM support is limited. See our Refurbishment insight page for scope and expectations.

What standards and build practices do you follow?

We apply documented machine-building choices - structural materials, sensing, pneumatics, safety-related design, and traceability-oriented data practices - summarised on our Machine Building Expertise page. Where projects target regulated markets, we align with applicable machinery safety expectations and customer-specific compliance needs.

Can you support remote diagnostics and after-sales service?

We design for serviceability and can support diagnostics through agreed remote connectivity where the plant network and security policy allow. Spares, documentation, and escalation paths are discussed during handover so your maintenance team knows how to reach us for production-critical issues.

How do we request a quotation or technical discussion?

Use the Contact page to share your application, volumes, part drawings or samples where possible, and timeline. A short description of current pain points - quality escapes, cycle time, manual content, or integration with existing lines - helps us propose the right workshop or review format.

Do you integrate data logging, traceability, and SPC?

Where the project requires it, we implement data acquisition and statistical process control hooks so results are available for traceability and audits. Requirements vary by customer; we align sensor choices, PLC or PC layers, and report formats with your IT and quality stakeholders.

Are your solutions suitable for export or overseas plants?

We favour globally available components and documented electrical and pneumatic architectures so machines can be supported in multiple regions. Export packaging, documentation language, and site services are planned per project with your logistics and project teams.

How do you approach machine safety and CE-oriented design?

Safety is integrated with the mechanical and control design - guarding, interlocks, and validation steps appropriate to the application and target market. We document risk reduction measures in line with common machinery safety practice; specific marking or conformity routes depend on contract and destination requirements.

Beyond new machinery, what services do you offer?

Our Services overview and Revenue streams pages describe how we structure engineering, build, and customer-facing workstreams. In practice this can include concept studies, rebuilds, line expansions, and ongoing technical support alongside new machine supply - scoped to what your programme needs.
